PUPILS from primary schools across Melksham came together for a celebration of science at Melksham Oak in an attempt to encourage more youngsters to take up the subject.
The event aimed to create a buzz about science and get as many young people involved as possible. The children were encouraged to get hands-on with a range of experiments demonstrating basic scientific processes, such as why leaves turn brown in autumn.
The day was inspired by the Great Primary Science Share event at Manchester Town Hall and more than 120 pupils from across Melksham took part.
Head of science for Melksham Oak, Cara Constable, said: “We had dry ice, dissections, liquid nitrogen and quite a few mini explosions.
“It was linked with the science share that went on at Manchester University.
"The kids were running it and the hall was packed.
“The point is to inspire the kids to get into science and to raise the profile of science in Wiltshire schools.”
