TOP music acts stole the show at this year’s Party in the Park in Melksham, with organisers hailing the festival as one to remember.

Thousands of people walked through the gates at King George V Park on Saturday with performances and activities running throughout the day.

The line-up this year included top Marc Bolan tribute act T.Rextasy, alternative rock band Dodgy and a host of daredevils performing a series of flame-defying stunts.

Party in the Park chair Tom Sangster said he was delighted to see so many come to the much-loved event.

“It all went fine and there was a good crowd,” said Mr Sangster. “Dodgy were really excellent.

“They set themselves apart. You saw the step up in class between local acts and a national band. There was a difference in the all-round class and performance.

“It is a community event, with music for all the family. It was a proper rock gig. We had a brand new stage and the sound worked very well.

“T.Rextasy got up and performed well and put on an excellent show so over all we are very happy.”

Avril Clark, 46, who attended the festival, said: "I got there a bit late but saw Dodgy, they were good fun.

"I went with my partner, friend and children and we had a picnic. It was fine and dry.

"The fireworks were really good at the end. My boys were loving it. It was very good value for only a fiver."
