A WOMAN from Melksham who is raising money in memory of a friend who died of cancer has handed another cheque to the Bath RUH Forever Friends Appeal.

Tracie Winslow, 41, of Melksham, collected £1,738 after hosting a family fun day at the New Inn pub in Berryfield, Melksham, in August.

Her friend Nicola Robertson, a mother-of-three, died in 2013 at the age of 28.

Miss Winslow said: “The fundraising day was such a huge success and I still cannot believe how many people came along on the day to show their support in honour of my dear friend Nic.

"I am truly grateful to everyone who supported us on the day and also a very special thank you must go to Karen and Kenny Gibbons who have been incredibly supportive and agreed to let me take over their pub.

“I could not have done this without the right venue and of course with the help of my family and friends who were brilliant helping out on all the stalls on the day.”

Nicola died in her sleep on March 15, just 11 months after being diagnosed with the disease.

During her illness, Miss Winslow started raising money for the Forever Friends Appeal, a cause which Mrs Robertson supported.

“She died at a very young age, leaving behind three young children," she said.

"I was heartbroken and it made me want to help in whatever way I could.

"I organised a big fundraiser when Nic was ill. Sadly she died a week before the event which was so very difficult for everyone. However, it went ahead and I had my head shaved, raising £3,122 in her memory,” added Miss Winslow.
