THOUSANDS of people turned their heads to the sky and kept warm by the fire during this year’s Melksham bonfire and firework display.

Organised by the Melksham Christmas Lights team, people had the chance to watch a firework display timed perfectly to music at the Forrest Community Centre on Friday (November 4).

The event was set up with the help of Light Fantastic and Distant Thunder Fireworks, and included a full licensed bar, hot food and drinks as well as children’s rides.

Organiser Paul Weymouth said: “It went very well, it was a big crowd and it went down really well.

“We were in to the thousands and some more at least and instantly there was lots of people praising it on Facebook.

“The weather setting up was wet but it was absolutely perfect fireworks weather during the night, cold but not wet.

“We took over the bonfire night three years ago and there’s a firm momentum behind it, people love the Christmas lights and people know we do a good job.”
