BOWERHILL Primary School has announced that the school will be choosing Wiltshire Sight as its chosen charity for the year.
To mark the beginning of its fundraising for the Devizes-based charity, pupils from the school in Melksham took part in The Great Bowerhill Blindfold Walk on November 4. Pupils from every class took part in the sponsored walk around the school field whilst blindfolded, being guided by a fellow pupil.
Wiltshire Sight and its Zoom Club, the service which operates throughout Wiltshire for visually impaired children and families, are looking forward to receiving the support from the primary school.
Claire Neal, community fundraiser at Wiltshire Sight, said: “We are delighted to receive this support from such a fantastic local school, we look forward to working with them on making school children more aware of sight loss, the challenges it brings to everyday life and how to take better care of your eyes.”
Throughout 2017 the school will be helping to raise awareness for the charity as well as taking part in various fundraising activities with both pupils and staff.
