A CARE home in Melksham has received a Good rating as a result of an inspection by the Care Quality Commission.

Blenheim House Care Home in Bath Road, Melksham, received its rating by the CQC after the report was written up on September 29. Since discovering of the care home’s latest score, the staff and manager are celebrating. The 53-bed home was subject to an unannounced inspection in June which also included positive feedback from residents’ family members.

Angela Boxall, head of operations at Blenheim House, said: “I am so proud of the team here at Blenheim House, this report is well deserved.

“Our priority is to make sure than Blenheim House is a true home for our residents, a place where they can continue to enjoy life and create new memories with their loved ones.”

The report rated the caring, the effectiveness of the care, the response of the team of staff and the leading of the staff as good, also giving special mention to the home’s library, café, beauty salon and hairdressers.

“The comments in the report reflect that and I’m proud that when you walk around Blenheim House it does feel like home,” added Mrs Boxall.

“We’re looking forward to developing our community links over the coming months with Christmas and New Year events, and of course also welcoming residents into our new extension and that is opening in a few weeks.”

The new part of the home will be seeing a new 32-bed extension added to the premises as well as a traditional pub, an indoor potting shed, pet shop, sensory gardens and a new car park.

In the CQC report it stated: “People and relatives spoke highly of the caring nature of the staff. Positive relationships had formed between people and staff. Staff knew people well and were aware of people's preferences for the way their care should be delivered, their likes and dislikes.”
