PUPILS of Shaw Primary School put their lab coats on to take part in a science fair, organised by the University of Bath.

The Bath Taps into Science project took place at the school in Corsham Road on Saturday (March 4).

Pupils were invited pupils to present the scientific research they had been conducting over the past month and showcase their hard work to the team from Bath University, as well as other parents and children.

Sharon Keane, Year 6 teacher from Shaw and science subject leader, said: "It fabulous to see everyone's hard work come together. It was great to see families and children showing their scientific research and it was very varied and interesting.

"For the first event we have done like this it seemed to go really well and we hope to continue doing similar projects in the future."

Pupils in different years from Shaw Primary, including a Year 1 pupil from The Manor, were then able to take a look at a number of different experiments.

Dr Andrew Ross, festival project manager for the Bath Taps into Science celebration, said: “We worked with groups of parents and children and together came up with the science research project. The children started their research a while ago and then presented it all on Saturday.

"We had such a wonderful mix of projects, such as electric conductors and insulators, what floats and what doesn’t and even which sugar creates the tastiest flapjack.”
