PUPILS at Aloeric Primary School enjoyed a week of creativity in the week leading up to half term with a range of activities.

During the week, pupils at the Melksham school learned how to play a brass instrument with music teacher Luke Pickett and took part in art classes before displaying their work to parents.

Year 1 and reception pupils were visited by Piano Pete, who led them through a number of singing assemblies, and pupils in Year 4 learned how to make Egyptian masks.

Reception teacher Ruth Gould said: “It was a brilliant week of learning and enjoyment and the pupils had a lot of fun.

“It gave them a chance to experience different things they’re not used to. Learning isn’t just about sitting at a desk and writing all day, it’s also about trying new things.

“It happened just after the SATs exams so it gave pupils a chance to unwind and re-engage with each other.”

The creative week followed the school’s annual fair, which was organised by the Friends of Aloeric School with a Harry Potter theme and raised £1,500, for improvements to be made at the school.

There was entertainment provided by int2sport, Melksham Rugby, Enigma and Aloeric's own gym club as well as stalls to buy and to win prizes at, a bouncy castle and the chance to mix magic potions.

Mrs Gould added: “As always it was a very fun day and we were delighted to raise that amount, which will help the school make improvements to improve pupils’ learning.

“Pupils really enjoyed making potions in particular.”
