Dashcam footage from a police car has revealed the moment the vehicle was hit by a drug dealer fleeing officers.

Leroy Harding, 30, was wanted for a serious offence when police spotted his Renault Clio in Melksham, on September 27 last year.

Officers followed the car but Harding failed to stop, performing a U-turn before speeding down a single-lane road.

The Renault Clio went airborne over a blind summit as Harding approached a humpback bridge, then collided with an oncoming police car.

He attempted to run away and struggled with officers before being Tasered and arrested by Constable Joe Shanklin and Detective Constable Ian Tilley.

The Wiltshire Police officers found class A drugs with a street value of £2,080 on Harding, along with mobile phones and several hundred pounds in cash.

He was released on bail but was seen behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Golf on February 4, driving on the M4 towards Chippenham.

Two police vehicles attempted to stop the car, which slowed down but sped off again when an officer attempted to engage with Harding.

He drove at speeds of more than 100mph with only three wheels along the A350, including through two red lights.

A Stinger was deployed, stopping the car and Harding was caught by officers after fleeing on foot.

He was found to be carrying £1,400 in cash and cannabis.

Harding, of Moorfields Road, Bath, was jailed for five years at Swindon Crown Court after pleading guilty to two charges of dangerous driving and possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

Pc Shanklin said: "On both occasions, Harding failed to stop for officers and drove in a dangerous manner, putting other road users, pedestrians and officers who were pursuing him in a great deal of danger.

"On the first incident Harding was about to enter a built-up residential area with a school and play park.

"Having crashed with the police car that I was driving, Harding continued to drive with a flagrant disregard for the law.

"It was extremely fortunate that on both occasions nobody was injured as a result of his mindless and selfish actions.

"We will not tolerate this kind of dangerous behaviour here in Wiltshire. We will target those individuals who use the roads for their drug enterprise.

"Harding has now been sentenced to five years' imprisonment and once he is released, he will be banned from driving for four years."
