A MALE motorcyclist was taken to hospital following a road accident at Sandridge Hill near Melksham at 7pm on Thursday.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service helped the South Western Ambulance Service free the man, who was medically trapped.

The fire and rescue service said crews from Melksham and Devizes attended the road traffic collision involving a silver Mercedes CLK which was in collision at low speed with a stationary motorcycle in a layby.

It is believed the driver of the Mercedes had suffered a medical episode. He was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath by ambulance while the fire and rescue service crews made the scene safe.
