THE thrills, and spills of the big top circus will be part of Melksham’s annual Party in the Park on Saturday, 15 July.

The event is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year and organisers thought they would try something a little bit different.

So, they have booked Happy’s Circus to give four 45-minute performances at 2pm, 3.15pm, 5pm and 6.15pm, including acrobats, clowns and comedy.

Organiser Tom Sangster said: “There is no extra charge for the circus, visitors will just pay for admission to the Party in the Park (in advance or on the day) and this includes admission to the Big Top.

“Everyone going to the circus, though, will need a ticket for entry, subject to availability. It is advisable to arrive in good time to see the circus show as there may be queues. For details see www.melkshampartyinthepark.co.uk.”

There will also be great live music on offer with top tribute act Hells Bells, the UK’s leading exponents of AC/DC, headlining this year’s event with great rocking music.

Before they take to the stage, the organisers have lined up local David Bowie tribute band Rebel Heroes who will sing all the top hits of Bowie, the ever- changing music icon who sadly passed away last year.

The many local acts on the main stage include The Ray Jones Band and The Decibelles. Lucy Winter, who appeared on The Voice, will sing some Adele classics and other songs. The Lightnin’ Hobos, Kirsty Clinch and two young performers from Melksham’s Oak School, Tom Coller-Jones and Melissa Gould, will also appear.

The side attractions include bungee trampolines, quad bikes, giant inflatables and much more for the children to enjoy.

There will be plenty of food for visitors to choose from and a new bar supplier, Box Steam Brewery from Holt, will be there to help quench thirsts.

To round off the day, there will be The Grand Fireworks Display, then a bit more rocking of AC/DC music to finish.

Admission is £6 for 16 year olds and above; £3 for 11 to 15 year olds, and absolutely free for Under 11s. Full details about the event, including ticketing, are at www.melkshampartyinthepark.co.uk. Visitors will be able to park free of charge in Melksham’s council car parks on the day.
