PRIMROSE Drive play area in Melksham has re-opened following £3,820 of repairs funded by the Town Council.
The play area has been resurfaced so that local youngsters can use it during the six-week summer holiday break from school.
The play area was closed by Wiltshire Council in April due to safety reasons. At the time, the county was unable to say when it would be reopened.
However, last week councillors decided to pay for the repairs themselves after seeking quotes from various companies.
Deputy Mayor of Melksham, Councillor Jon Hubbard said, “We need to get that play area back open, it is sorely, sorely missed by the residents.”
After discussions with Wiltshire Council, the town council was granted a licence to perform the works on Wiltshire Council’s behalf.
Melksham Mayor, Councillor Adrienne Westbrook and Deputy Town Mayor, Councillor Jon Hubbard, are pictured on the equipment.
