FURNITURE Manufacturer Herman Miller UK of Melksham has won a top award for being green.

The Bowerhill-based company was recently named Green/Sustainable Manufacturer for the South West region, at the annual Made in the South West awards.

The award is given to the company that has demonstrated the greatest commitment, through its products and processes, to forging a sustainable manufacturing future for their region.

This includes the greatest commitment to energy efficiency and to reducing the impact of manufacturing on the environment.

Becci Ricardo, Herman Miller’s Head of International Safety and Sustainability, said: “Behaving responsibly towards the environment should be more than just a statement of intent.

“At Herman Miller, it’s an attitude that permeates every part of our business. We have focused our goals around the smart use of resources, eco-inspired design, and becoming community driven.”

The winners of this year’s awards will automatically go through to the Made in the UK final, where the best of British manufacturing will be celebrated.

The firm’s Environmental Product Specialist, Oliver Cripps, received the award from judge Alan Bailey of the Low Carbon Trust.
