DOROTHY House Hospice Care is to expand its second annual Christmas Tree Recycling scheme in partnership with the Justhelping charity.

This year the scheme is expanding to offer tree collections in three new postcodes - BA2 in Bath, SN12 in Melksham and BA12 in Warminster. This year’s collection raised £6,395.90.

Stephanie Cox, Community Fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: “This is our second Christmas tree collection and we're looking forward to helping local people recycle their used Christmas trees while also raising vital funds for Dorothy House. A big thank you to all our volunteers and our supporters for their generous help.”

Dorothy House supporters and volunteers will pick up your old Christmas tree on Saturday, January 6 in Frome, Westbury, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge, Corsham, Warminster and Melksham and on Tuesday, January 9 in Bath.

Taking part is easy, visit www.charityxmastreecollection.com, type in your postcode to check that your area is covered, make a donation and list where your tree will be located on January 6 or 9.

Dorothy House asks for a small donation to help fund the specialist palliative and end of life care services provided by the Hospice. All sized trees can be chipped and shredded to make valuable reusable materials for the community and trees can be collected from businesses, schools and churches as well as homes.

Dorothy House’s Christmas Tree Collection scheme is supported by many local businesses and volunteers including SW Machinery Hire from Lacock which specialises in the hire of agricultural and plant machinery.

Students at Lackham Agriculture College in Melksham will also be helping with tree chipping after the January collection. Other supporters include Bradford on Avon Rotary Club, Sureset in Warminster, and Pearns Tree Services and Inspired Joinery both from Frome.

While 90 per cent of the money raised, after costs, will go to Dorothy House, ten per cent of funds raised will go to other local charities.
