A JUSTGIVING crowdfunding page has been launched by an angry parent following mindless vandalism at Sunflowers Pre-schoool in Ruskin Avenue, Melksham.

Jon Ramsbottom, who has a child at the pre-school, has set a target of raising £500 to pay for a CCTV system to be installed at the pre-school next to Manor Primary School, which already has cameras.

The pre-school has suffered vandalism and thefts recently and Mr Ramsbottom said: “Over the past week, they have had their outdoor play house broken into, not once, but twice by local youth.

“This isn’t the first incident either. They’ve had play equipment stolen, fires started and various acts of vandalism of recent months, and it’s time this stopped.”

On the Sunflowers Pre-school Facebook page, a post says: “A group of children have broken into the school and nursery sheds and damaged play equipment today.

“They have also been climbing on the school roof, which is extremely dangerous. We know who the children are as they were caught in the act and the CCTV has also captured their images. The police have been notified and they have the names of the children involved.

“Unfortunately, due to the mindless vandalism, we may have to review the access to the field which is disappointing as the children involved are not pupils from The Manor.

“Our pupils are usually respectful and appreciate being allowed the opportunity to play on a large open green space. If you have any information about the vandalism please contact the school.”

The money raised will also be used to repair the damage. To support the appeal visit: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/jon-ramsbottom.
