POLICE are appealing for information after a farming couple at Seend found one of their sheep had been savaged by a dog during the lambing season.
Aldetha and Kevin Raymond were “extremely distressed” to find a ewe carrying twin lambs dead on Little Foxes Farm after a late evening attack.
The following morning, a walker and two boaters helped rescue another of their sheep from the Kennet & Avon Canal after it fell in trying to escape from a dog.
The incident occurred around 11pm on Monday, February 12 in a field off Rusty Lane. Mr Raymond later saw a Border Collie type dog, which due to its size could have been a German Shepherd cross, walking down the footpath towards Seend School.
Aldetha said: “Kevin is extremely distressed by the incident. We’re in the lambing season so it’s essential that dog owners keep their pets under control.” Police have appealed for information: call them on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
