THE George Ward School has been re-designated as a technology college.
As well as investment into the school the technology college status means that there is funding for outreach work with all the local primary schools.
Margaret Bryant, assistant headteacher, said: "With technology moving at such a fast pace, it is fantastic that the staff and students are working hard to ensure we have the best technology and the training to support it.
"Without the funding we would not have been able to move forward at such a pace.
"Last year we invested heavily in a laser cutter for design and technology, interactive whiteboards around the school, upgrading IT facilities in our sixth form and running Technology Week which gave all students enrichment opportunities.
"This was alongside the vast number of initiatives we run to support students in their learning and in raising standards."
Headteacher Stephen Clark said: "We were one of the first Technology Colleges in Wiltshire, the re-designation will allow us to continue this innovative progress in our new school."
