MARRIED on Christmas Eve in 1932, Arnold and Dorothy Hasted celebrate 75 years of wedded bliss today.
The couple met at a fair in Calne when Mrs Hasted, now 94, was on one of the rides and Mr Hasted, now 97, spotted her and decided she was the one for him.
They were married at Calne parish church about a year later and lived there for a short while before moving to their home in Craybourne Road, Melksham, where they have remained ever since.
The couple had three children: Brian, 73, Brenda, 71, and Sheila who died in June at the age of 66.
They also now have six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs Hasted, a former school cook supervisor, said: "I think it's just a matter of giving and taking and not letting the silly little things annoy you.
"He's never smoked a cigarette and doesn't drink a lot either, that helps a lot."
Mr Hasted, who was an electricity board clerk for 35 years, added: "I've got a good lady. It's a lot to do with how you live, you've got to look after yourselves - people say I look about 75 even now."
The couple have enjoyed many foreign holidays together over the years, including cruises all over the world on board the Canberra and the Queen Mary.
