PEOPLE in Melksham will be able to enjoy their revamped library when it reopens early in the new year.
The library, which is run by Wiltshire County Council, will reopen on Friday January 4 at 2pm.
The refurbishment is part of an on-going programme of library upgrades across the county.
Among the improvements to the library are new displays and improved layout, and a café-style area to relax where you can enjoy a coffee or tea. Some £20,000 has been spent on new books.
There will also be a "Headspace" area with a range of facilities for young people, which is being created with help from National Lottery funding.
The front of the library has also been opened up to create easier access with large central automatic doors. This provides improved access for wheelchairs and large buggies.
A number of events are being held at the library to mark the reopening.
Mary Douglas, cabinet member for libraries, heritage and culture, said: "Libraries play a key role in our local communities. These improvements to Melksham library will mean a better service for local people and I am delighted it is reopening."
Melksham library will now be open 10am to 7pm on Monday, 9am to 5pm on Tuesday and Friday, 9am to 7pm on Thursday and 9am to 4pm on Saturday. It is closed on Wednesday and Sunday.
