The deputy headteacher of George Ward School in Melksham will head off to Africa in July to help staff at a children’s home.
Margaret Bryant, 55, will be travelling to the Amani children’s home in Tanzania with friends Judy Dain, 61, Elaine Gale, 55, and Sally McClelland, 61, to give staff a bit of a breather.
The quartet are holding a number of fundraising events to finance their trip including a Big Swap at Devizes Sports Club, London Road, Devizes, next Saturday from 11am. Entry costs £5 and those taking part can take along between one and three accessories to swap.
Mrs Bryant said: “All the money raised from these events will go to the charity. We are covering our expenses ourselves. We have been told we must be prepared to arrive with a list of activities for the children, so we have been having meetings about what we can do with them.”
