A married couple from Bromham have been disqualified from driving after they were both caught drink driving on the same night.
Ian and Lisa Fillis of 6, Highfield, Bromham, were arrested on Febuary 12 on their way home from Bromham Social Club, travelling in separate cars.
Ian Fillis, 50, pleaded guilty to the charge of driving with excess alcohol, and was found to have 73mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
His wife Lisa, having given a roadside breath test of 96mg in 100ml of blood, failed to provide a test at Melksham Police Station.
They appeared separately at Chippenham Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The pair had driven home the short distance from the social centre but were stopped after police received an anonymous tip-off.
Lisa Fillis was stopped by police and provided a breath sample at the roadside which showed she was over the limit.
She was in court on the charge of failing to provide a breath test when she was taken to Melksham Police Station.
Her solicitor said she did not realise that following her arrest, she had to provide further samples of breath.
Nicola Hutchinson, defending, said: “She understands that their were no excuses for her actions. But she didn’t understand the procedure and never being in trouble before, she was petrified about what was going on.
“She had completely frozen and didn’t realise that she had to provide two further samples.”
Lisa Fillis was banned from driving for 24 months and was ordered to pay a fine of £250.
Her husband was in court for failing a roadside breath test, and he pleaded guilty. He was banned from driving for 18 months and fined £350.
Both were offered the chance to attend a drink drive course to reduce their disqualification times.

Yes, driving when drunk is reprehensible. But would you want to keep the company of people who set their friends and neighbours up for police attention? It all feels a bit Gestapo.

She didn't realise she had to give a breath specimen at the station! I'm sure the police may have mentioned it.
Shame on you Nicola Hutchinson for trying to get this menace off the charge.
