A-level results: Stonar

A-level pupils at Stonar achieved outstanding successes once again this year.

For the fifth consecutive year the overall A-level pass rate was 100 per cent with 57 per cent of passes being A* and A grades.

This is a 20 per cent increase on last year's figures with 96 per cent of students achieving A* to C grades.

These results are above the national pass rate of 98 per cent.

One of this year's star perfromers was Alicja Borsberry-Woods, from Baughurst in Hampshire, who gained an A* and two A grades to secure a place at Imperial College London to read Environmental Geoscience.

While, Claudia Saksida from Bradford on Avon got three A grades and will be studying medicine at Imperial College London.

Headteacher Elizabeth Thomas said: “We are delighted with this year’s results and extremely proud of our girls’ achievements. The statistics show improvements across the board with even more girls reaching the top grades of A*, A and B which popular university courses demand.

"Our sixth form pupils make excellent progress because of the amount of time teachers provide beyond the timetabled lessons to further clarify understanding of the work in hand.  As a result many girls have achieved or exceeded the challenging targets they set themselves and they are progressing to a wide and impressive range of higher education and career destinations."
