Lucky escape as car smashes through Trowbridge shop window
5:51pm Tuesday 22nd January 2013 in Trowbridge
The scene of the incident
A car crashed through the front of a shop this evening causing traffic delays in Trowbridge.
The Nissan Note smashed through the window of Aston Interiors, in Wicker Hill, at around 5pm.
Luckily, no pedestrians were passing at the time and no-one was injured in the incident, but the woman driving the Nissan suffered sliight shock.
PC Louise Oakley said: “It would seem the lady driving the car lost control on the bend and then ended up mounting the kerb and going through the shop. It is very slippery out there tonight and it just seems like one of those unfortunate incidents.
“There is no suspicion that the driver was under the influence of alcohol of anything like that, this is just one of those things that happens, from time to time.”
Aston Interiors sells a range of kitchen, bathroom and bedroom furniture and fittings.

There was no need to use the word 'smashes'. We all know the effect of weighty objects forcibly coming into contact with glass.

says Ms Plod.
Really? A bit complacent there, Plod. it could have been a different story if there had been a busy pavement with children etc. Wouldn't have been "just one of those things" then, would it?

But it WAS "just one of those things"!!!
There WEREN'T any pedestrians on the pavement - no children were hurt - so YES - it WAS exactly as described.
And NO - had there been any casualties it WOULDN'T have been "just one of those things" - and it wouldn't have been described as such, either, would it??
Idiot.

My comment stands. If you fly off the road, several yards over the pavement, and through a shopfront, in a built-up area, that isn't "just one of those thingS". As another poster has said, it's grossly poor driving and should be prosecuted. Perhaps the driver wasn't black enough, young enough, or male enough to warrant a prosecution.

whether it was or not, or whether you know it was or not, your statement is prejudicial.

It was criminal - pure and simple - prosecute regardless?
No - it was an accident.
No-one got hurt. No need to prosecute simply for the sake of it.
Get over yourself. Idiot.
