Trowbridge soldier flying flag for Special Olympians

A soldier from Trowbridge was given the honour of raising the flag for the opening ceremony at the Special Olympics in Bath.
Warrant Officer 1st Class Verity Bartlett, 44, led a party of six personnel from 4 Close Support Battalion, Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers , which formed part of the ceremony in front of the world famous Royal Crescent.
She said: “This was a wonderful opportunity to be involved with the continuation of the Olympic legacy.
“It is also another great stage on which to prove that disability, in whatever form, is no barrier to competing in sport and achieving your goals.”
The ceremony, held on August 28, opened the games to more than 7,000 athletes, volunteers and supporters. David Cameron sent a video.
