Police in Trowbridge are appealing for witnesses and information after a 13- year-old was robbed of his phone in St Stephen's Place Leisure Park.

The victim was approached by group of youths outside the Odeon cinema at around 9.15pm on Sunday, March 30, and then assaulted before they left with his mobile phone, a Samsung Galaxy.

Officers, who were close by, attended the scene and a short time later two local males, aged 15 and 16, were arrested on suspicion of assault and attempted robbery. Both were subsequently released on police bail.

PC Carol Lovelock, of Melksham CID, said: “It is often the case that the smallest piece of information can help lead to a prosecution.

“Whilst this type of crime is uncommon in the area, the impact on the victims can be significant.

“I would appeal to anyone with any information to come forward.”

Anyone with any information, or who may have seen a group of youths with a bicycle in the area, is asked to contact PC Lovelock of Melksham CID on 01225 794730.

Alternatively people can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
