Proud mascot Jack Fievez, who is eight, will have all eyes on him at Twickenham this weekend, when he leads the Trowbridge RFC squad onto the same pitch as his England heroes.

Jack was selected from the club’s under-8 team for the honour on Monday, and is now preparing to accompany club captain Matt Howard to the pitch as the final starts.

He said: “It was awesome when I found out I’d been chosen, I was very excited, but I was also a bit nervous.

“I would like to play at Twickenham one day. I’ve never been there before, but I’ve seen it on the TV for internationals.

“I want to carry on playing at Trowbridge, but one day I would like to play for Bath as a full back.”

The North Bradley CE Primary School pupil was selected at random from the team, which he has played with since he was four years old.

He said: “When I told my friends at school they said it was really cool.

“I want them to play totally awesomely, and do it for Trowbridge. Well done for getting to the final, I hope you win.”

His family has developed close ties with the club since moving to North Bradley four years ago.

His father Dan said: “I am very proud.

“We moved down here several years ago, long after I stopped playing, though I still help out coaching the under-7s.

“There’s a big RFU push at the moment to get the kids playing, and the club has fully embraced that, they have a very strong minis and junior section.

“I have been up to Twickenham a few times over the years, and I’ll be going down with my wife Carol on the coach.

“For a small club like this it obviously is a big occasion, so I think it’s going to be a really good day, a lot of fun, and who knows, we might even get the result.”
