A new choir is being set up in Trowbridge, with just four workshops before it sings at a concert for Trowbridge Arts Festival and Black History Month in October.

Building Bridges: The Trowbridge Song Project has been working with communities in the town to build relations between different cultural and community groups through sharing traditional songs and stories of migration for the past nine months, and the concert Around the World in Trowbridge will be its first major event.

The organisers need people who love to sing, or who want to try singing, to come to just four workshop rehearsals, the first on Wednesday at the Town Hall, and then sing in the concert.

Candy Verney, local choir leader and artistic director of the project, said: “You don’t need to be able to read music, have any previous experience or ‘be a singer’.”

Workshops will be held on Wednesdays from 7.30-9.30pm, with the first, on September 24, at the Town Hall. Sessions are then on October 1,8 and 15, with the concert on October 18 at 7.30pm at Holy Trinity Church. For more or to book, see www.trowbridgesongproject.co.uk
