A Trowbridge woman who went missing on Tuesday morning was found dead by police last night in woodland at Farleigh Woods, just over the Somerset border.
Wiltshire Police issued an appeal for information yesterday in a bid to trace Christine Mitchell, 59, from Trowbridge.
Today they said the family of Mrs Mitchell, a mother of four, had been contacted.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious and a full report will now be prepared for the coroner's office.
Ex-husband Michael Thomas said today: “Due to her illness Christine chose to leave us in her own way.
"As someone married to her for 15 years, I would ask all her friends and family to hold their heads up high and remember the good times.”
Wiltshire Police has thanked the public and the media for their assistance.
