This year’s Wiltshire Times Baby of the Year saw the award remain in the family, with last year’s winner Molly-Louise finishing as runner-up behind her victorious twin brother Harry.

Proud parents Joe Gingell and Lorna Connor, of The Holdings, Ashton Common, Trowbridge, said they were delighted Harry had won the award, which is sponsored by Persimmon Homes, after he was runner-up behind his sister last year.

The Baby of the Year winner wins £500 and will also receive a canvas print plus a trophy and certificate, while the two runners-up win £250 each plus a canvas print, a trophy and certificate.

All the submitted baby pictures were featured in the Wiltshire Times Baby of the Year Supplement, which appeared in the paper on September 19, with 1,826 votes registered overall and only 10 votes between the siblings.

Miss Connor, 28, and her partner of 10 years Mr Gingell, 26, said: “It’s really nice that they have switched places and Harry has won this year after being a runner-up last year. Everyone said they couldn’t believe it.

“We get a lot of support from our family and friends and they would vote for both of them, so it would have to be votes from members of the public that swung it.

“It was also great that my niece Emma’s son Louie was also a runner-up as we are very close and often get together. It means a lot to us to get so much support.”

Emma Connor, 18, and her partner, Rob Wilson, 25, who have been together for two years, also won £250 after their six-month-old son Louie was a runner-up.

Miss Connor, of Silver Street, Trowbridge, said: “We were delighted when we found out that he was a runner-up. I couldn’t believe it when I found out Lorna’s children were also winners, but it’s nice to keep it in the family.”
