A Halloween-themed charity auction and raffle fundraiser for Dorothy House Hospice Care is at 7.30pm at The Old Bear in Staverton, Trowbridge, on Saturday, November 1.

It is organised by Hannah Solman and Michelle Ransome to raise money in memory of their close friend Halcyon Downes, who died from cancer earlier this year.

Raffle and auction prizes include day passes to Center Parcs, a haircut in a top salon, restaurant vouchers and a personal training package. There will also be games and a buffet.

Mrs Ransome, of Trowbridge, said: “We wanted to do something after the very sudden and quick loss of Hal, who left behind a husband and two little girls, as the hospice was instrumental in helping them with their ordeal.

“The work Dorothy House does is brilliant.

"They provided a lot of support to Hal’s family and then she ended up staying at the hospice before she passed away.

"It’s Halloween themed as her name was Hal, so everyone must be in fancy dress.”
