A LOCAL pub has had its just desserts by winning an award in a prestigious culinary competition.
Marion Cummins of The Linnet in Great Hinton, near Trowbridge won the Desserts category in the PubChef Food Excellence Awards, picking up her award last night at a lavish ceremony held at The Dorchester Hotel, London.
Now in its third year, the awards involve a six-month search for excellence and see the UK's best pub chefs battling it out in 11 cook-offs to become category champions.
Marion's winning dessert of ginger pudding with ginger toffee sauce, won her the award.
The Linnet presents 52 covers and serves customers with what Marion describes as "good home cooking in a relaxed atmosphere".
Jo Bruce, editor of PubChef, said: "Standards were higher than ever this year and the category winners had to work unbelievably hard to impress our judges. Winning a PubChef Food Excellence award is a great achievement."
