A fundraising event in memory of 18-year-old Tiree Nuttall, who died in July after suffering from epilepsy, will be held at Trowbridge Rugby Club next Saturday.

Family friend Nobby Knight, who is team manager at the club, has helped organise the fundraiser with Tiree’s parents Janet and Ron, who live with son Courtney, 20, in Greenway Gardens, Trowbridge.

The Christmas karaoke and disco night, which is invite only and includes an auction and raffle, will raise money for Epilepsy Action, Epilepsy Awareness, Naomi House and Jacksplace Hospice, where Tiree was cared for during her illness.

The club will also be holding fundraising events during the day and the team will be wearing pink socks for their league match against Bletchley, as it was Tiree’s favourite colour.

Mrs Nuttall said: “We lost our daughter in July and we had a lot of support from Naomi House and Jacksplace Hospice over the years. We wanted to do something in her memory and raise lots of money at the same time.

“It’s amazing how generous people have been for the auction and raffle. The community has really come together. It shows how well loved she was. We’ve sent invites to 300 people – mainly friends and family and people who have helped out along the way. It’s a pink-themed evening and will be a celebration of her life.

Auction prizes on the night will include a signed Manchester United football, a boot signed by Jonah Lomu, a signed England rugby team shirt and a cricket bat signed by international players.

Mr Knight, whose wife went to school with Mrs Nuttall, said: “We don’t have a target in mind, we just want to raise as much as possible.”
