Trowbridge Fire Station will be holding its fourth annual Christmas day lunch at County Hall this year after staff wanted to get involved.

For the past three years it has been held at the fire station on Hilperton Road but this year Wiltshire Council staff wanted to get involved and have offered use of the hall along with their help as volunteers.

Members of the catering team are also providing a starter of homemade soup.
In previous years the day has had more than 100 visitors and this year volunteers will be helping on the day and in the run up to the event.

Trowbridge watch manager Lucy May, one of the organisers, said: “County Hall has offered to host it which will be much nicer and brighter for the guests.

“A lot of the volunteers who get involved would be on their own themselves at Christmas so the day is great for everyone to sit down and have a family meal together.

“We have a good amount of volunteers now but anyone that wants to can get involved, the more the merrier.”

An organising committee has been put together with food donated by Trowbridge firm Apetito and gifts are donated by members of the public along with local companies.

The festivities aim to bring families, friends and people spending the day alone, together for a traditional dinner.

Christmas dinner is served at noon and will be followed by carols, a raffle draw and other activities.

Dietary requirements including vegetarian and gluten free can be catered for and there will be a children area with crafts and DVD’s showing.

Guests will also receive a hamper and anything that doesn’t get used on the day is donated to Trussell Trust.

Booking for the day is advisable so catering numbers can be estimated, although people can just turn up on the day. To book a place contact 01225 756500, 07934172734 or email christmaslunch@ wiltsfire.gov.uk.
