Objections to plans for up to 175 homes on land off Grovelands Way in Warminster were unanimously agreed to by residents and town councillors this week.

The scheme from developers Green Square came under fire as locals said it could lead to more flooding in the town.

A Warminster Town Council meeting on Monday heard their objections, with concerns about flooding, the land’s edge-of-town location and increased load on infrastructure among concerns raised.

Jeremy Stadward, of Haygrove Close, said: “Yet again we have developers running in to make a quick buck at the expense of the environment that we all need to have protected.

"Building on this land would have an impact on surface drainage and the general flood drainage capacity.”

Cllr Jamie Cullen proposed refusal of the application.

A decision is expected to be made by Wiltshire Council in the new year.
