A star of Channel 4’s The Undateables show this week, Trowbridge man Richard Jackman, has now changed his Facebook status to “In a Relationship.”

The show follows singletons looking for love, but considering themselves undateable because of disabilities.

Mr Jackman applied in an attempt to find someone with whom to settle down, after struggling to meet girls due to his Asperger’s syndrome, which causes significant difficulties in social interaction.

The 25-year-old was arranged a date with Tammy Flook, 28, of Stroud, and he took her to Woolley Grange Hotel for afternoon tea and views of the White Horse.

Mr Jackman, who has lived in Trowbridge since 2005, said: “I watched with my parents. We had cake while we were watching, to celebrate.

“It was a little bit weird seeing myself on TV to start with, but I got used to it.

“My dad was looking at Twitter as the programme was going on. Everyone was admiring how much of a gentleman I am and I’m glad the whole country likes me.

“I have kept in touch with Tammy and, only last Friday, we went to the boat show in London and saw the Sunseeker yachts.

“I updated my Facebook status to ‘In a Relationship’ and we have had four dates. I’m really looking forward to seeing her again and I think next time she is going to come to Trowbridge.”

The programme featured Mr Jackman walking in the Royal Crescent, Bath, and Trowbridge Town Park. His slinky cat, Cassie, also proved popular with people on Twitter.

Mr Jackman added: “I’m really happy with the way it turned out (with Tammy) and we have a lot of things in common, including the fact we have both been to America.

“I hope we can go on holiday together sometime in the future, but I will take each day as it comes.

“Anything is possible, but you will just have to watch this space for now.”
