Motorists are being warned to prepare for delays in the centre of Trowbridge from Monday, when Castle Street is closed from its junction with Market Street to the junction with Fore Street, past Dominoes Pizza and the Kings Arms pub.
The closure, which will last until February 13, has been ordered by Wiltshire Council to allow Wales and West Utilities to carry out gas main replacement works.
The order includes the temporary suspension of the no left turn order on Market Street at its junction with Castle Street, so drivers can use that as an alternative route. The restrictions will be clearly signed.
The alternative route takes drivers down the unaffected part of Castle Street and then via Mortimer Street, Longfield Road, West, Bythesea Road, Stallard Street, Town Bridge, Hill Street, Shails Lane, Upper Broad Street, Conigre and Manvers Street.
