5:41pm Saturday 17th February 2007 in Trowbridge By Craig Evry
THE annual pancake race got underway in Trowbridge this morning without a hitch.
Stewards lined the route along Fore Street from 10am with the races getting underway about half-an-hour later.
Trowbridge mayor Tom James and town crier Trevor Heeks were among the civic dignitaries to attend.
There were four races with categories for men, women, children and a relay race.
Teams from 2196 Air Cadet Squadron, based in Trowbridge, took the first three places in the relay event.
A fluffy bunny mascot from ASDA and Wilbur the Alligator from the Wiltshire Times were entertaining the kids and handing out sweets, while pancakes were cooked especially for the occasion.
