THE funeral service for Trowbridge-born grandfather Christopher Bonnick will take place in Nottingham next Friday.

The 55-year-old property developer, who was raised in the Studley Green area of the town, was pulled by firefighters from a burning house in Derby Grove on March 22.

He was taken to Queen’s Medical Centre in Nottingham but later died of his injuries, with his family at his bedside.

A 56-year-old man was charged with the murder of Mr Bonnick and has been remanded in custody until June 30.

Mr Bonnick was born and raised in Trowbridge by his mother alongside his eight siblings, with many now living in the Newtown area.

He was a former pupil at Nelson Haden School, now Clarendon Academy, and was a father of four, with three daughters and a son. He also had four grandchildren.

In a tribute paid to him, one of his daughters said: “He had a great community spirit and he liked helping everyone and anyone.

“He would give the short off his back and was very kind.

“He was well known because of his trademark dreadlocks and he would say hello to everyone.”

His funeral will take place at Bramcote Crematorium, Coventry Lane, in Nottingham next Friday at 2.45pm.
