EMERGENCY services attended the Trowbridge Household Recycling Centre in Canal Road at around 2.20pm on Tuesday following a scrap between two members of the public.

Wiltshire Police and South Western Ambulance Service attended the centre, which is operated by Hills Waste Solutions on behalf of Wiltshire Council, following reports of an incident on the premises.

A spokesman for Wiltshire Police has now confirmed that a 45-year-old man from Trowbridge sustained a cut to his arm after an altercation with another member of the public.

It is believed that the casualty suffered the injuries after he was in collision with a car, which was stationary at the time, following the bust up. The centre was closed for almost two hours while the injured man was being treated.

A statement from Hills Waste Solutions said: “The Trowbridge Household Recycling Centre was temporarily closed for a short period on Tuesday following an altercation between two members of the public on site.

“HRC staff on site followed the emergency procedures for this type of incident and Wiltshire Police attended the site, together with paramedics and an ambulance. No members of Hills’ staff were involved or injured in the incident.

“Wiltshire Council and Hills Waste Solutions will be assisting the police with their enquiries in relation to the incident. The Trowbridge HRC was reopened to the public at 4pm on the same day.”

South Western Ambulance Service said the injured man was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol for treatment, while police are still carrying out inquires.
