TROWBRIDGE’s Community Sensory Gardens provided the perfect setting for martial arts enthusiasts to celebrate World Tai Chi and Qigong Day on Saturday.
Instructor Brian Davey organised the event, which was held for the second year running, and invited fellow instructors and students of the martial arts disciplines to come along and perform demonstrations to the public.
Beginners were also invited to learn more about the two forms of meditation, which can provide physical, mental and emotional benefits.
Mr Davey, who started doing Tai Chi on the order of his doctor in 2007, before becoming a qualified instructor in 2010, said he was delighted with how the event went.
The 60-year-old from Westbury added: “This was the second year we have done it and we had just over 30 people come along and take part, including some from as far as Frome, so I was really happy with how it went.
“We had students and some of the instructors put on a demonstration and then I led some of those who were new to it all through some movements. I’m hoping that next year’s event will be even bigger.
“We are very lucky to be able to use the sensory gardens as it is a wonderful place. I first got into Tai Chi due to the health benefits and once I saw what it could do I decided to qualify to be an instructor.”
