NORTH Bradley residents have kept themselves busy over the last month by holding several clear up days to make sure the village's recreation ground is looking its best for the Green Flag Award judging.

Volunteers have turned out in force over the last few weekends to help clear up the children’s play area at the Peace Memorial Trust Recreation Ground.

The recreation ground, which is located off Southwick Road, has previously been awarded the Green Flag in recognition of it being one of the best parks and green spaces in the country.

As part of the clear up days, volunteers have removed rubbish left by fly tipping and tidied up the area surrounding the children’s play equipment.

Pauline Baxter, who is part of the Peace Memorial Trust committee, said: “We have been holding clear up days for the last few weeks, after we became concerned about rubbish in the play area.

“There was quite a lot of fly tipping, but committee members and other volunteers have come together and put a lot of hard work into making it look good.

“We have been awarded the Green Flag before as it is a quality site and we want to keep it that way. We will probably hold a few more action days in the next few weeks as well.”

The next clear up day will take place at the Peace Memorial Trust Recreation Ground on May 16, with anyone welcome to come along and help out from 10.30am.
