HUNDREDS of villagers made the most of the activities on offer at the annual North Bradley Village Fete and Novelty Dog Show at the Peace Memorial Recreation Ground on Saturday.

The event included an Active Trowbridge Sports Roadshow, stalls, displays and much more for families, with the profits from the day going towards the hall and recreation ground.

There was also a dog show as part of the fete, which included prizes for the prettiest bitch, most handsome dog, waggiest tail, best veteran, best rescue dog, best dressed and best in show.

More than £1,200 was raised by the event, with some of the funds going towards updating and fixing some of the play equipment in the recreation ground’s playground.

Pauline Baxter, who helped organise the event, said: “I think it was our best fete for a long time and it was very well attended. It is always a really nice way to bring the community together.

“We raised around £1,200, which is better than we have done in previous year, and that money will go towards repairs in the children’s play area at the recreation ground, as the swing has need repairing for a while now.

“There was a real cross section of people at the event and I would say we had around 500 during the afternoon. We were lucky with the weather and the atmosphere was great throughout, with all the children enjoying the activities.

“The dog show also went really well, so we couldn’t have asked for anymore really. It is great to get so much support from the local community, including several local clubs.”

The next event at the North Bradley Peace Memorial Recreation Ground will be a performance of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing by The Pantaloon Theatre Company on August 15. For tickets, contact Pauline Baxter on 01225 765644.
