GUIDES from Steeple Ashton and Paxcroft are currently enjoying a range of activities in Switzerland, after holding their final fundraising event at the Girlguiding Hall last month.

The event saw the guides sell bacon baps, burgers, cakes, tea and coffee and cold drinks for the families attending the Medieval Family Fun Day in Trowbridge Park.

Following the fundraising event, the guide group left from Melksham Market Square last Wednesday (July 29) to start their journey via Heathrow to the Bernese Oberland Region of Switzerland for a full 10 days of activities.

Christine Glover, assistant guide leader, said: “The Guides have raised monies for their Bernese Oberland Passes which gives them 8 days free travel on all the transport systems in the region.

“They have raised this money by Bag Packing in Sainsbury's, Cake and Burger Sales in the Girlguiding Hall in Trowbridge, the Christmas Float – where they used Trowbridge Lions’ second Christmas float last December in the surrounding villages – and much more.”
