WILTSHIRE Council has finally cleared an overgrown footpath behind several homes in Trowbridge, after receiving constant complaints from neighbours for several months about the issue.

Judy Croker, who lives in Blair Road, told the Wiltshire Times that the footpath behind her property - connecting Manor Road and Talbot Road – had turned into a nightmare after being abandoned and said she had contacted the council on numerous occasions.

The council initially said it had received “no reports” of the footway being obstructed, but more residents got in touch to dispute this, claiming that they had also reported the problem.

The footpath has now been cleared after the council’s highways and streetscene contractor Balfour Beatty Living Places visited the area last Thursday (Aug 6) and removed the vegetation.

Mrs Croker, 68, said: “They have done a fantastic job and they have completely cleared it away and got rid of all the rubbish. It is much better and now it is cleared I can finally sort out the damage to my fence.

“They have gone right the way up to Manor Road and if you came and saw it now you would not believe what it was like before. People have been using it a lot since it was cut away.

“Obviously word has got around that it has been cut and it has been really busy over the past week, with lots of people using the footpath. It just looks so much better now.

“Last time when they cut it they didn’t take all the stuff away afterwards, but they did remove it this time. They have done all that we asked and I’m just pleased that it has finally been sorted.”
