TWO fire crews were called to a house in Southwick last night after a blaze destroyed a bedroom in a newly-built property.

A crew from Trowbridge and one from Bradford on Avon were called to the address on Concord Close at 9.55pm and is it believed that from the fire, extensive smoke damage was caused to the first floor.

The accidental fire is thought to have started from an electrical appliance that overheated.

The two male occupants of the house were out at the time and crews were alerted by a neighbour when black smoke was seen coming from the first-floor bedroom window.

The fire was out by 12.15am on Friday morning.

Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service confirmed an investigation is still ongoing to find out an exact cause.
