TROWBRIDGE Townswomen’s Guild is encouraging more ladies to join the group and come along to one of the monthly meetings, where members get the chance to socialise.

The long-running group had a cream tea gathering last Wednesday (Aug 12) at the Trowbridge Park Club, with members invited to come along and enjoy each other’s company, as well as refreshments.

Meetings take place on the second Wednesday of the month, while the ladies also meet once a month to do some sewing for charity and for a discussion group.

Ellen Penny, who has been part of the guild for 20 years, said: “We would like to encourage new members, preferably younger woman, to ensure that the guild continues into the future.

“It’s really an organisation that started with the suffragettes and gives women and opportunity to come together and have a chat and a cup of tea. We also have regular guest speakers, with previous visitors including the police, the town crier and a metal detectorist.”

Anyone who would like to find out more, should contact Ellen on 01225 350937.
