ACTIVE Trowbridge has launched two new afterschool clubs at John of Gaunt School this week to encourage more youngsters to get involved in physical activity on a regular basis.

Following feedback from parents, Active Trowbridge set up a dance class on Tuesday for 9-16 year olds, with no experience necessary, and a netball club for 9-14 year olds on Wednesday.

The dance club is aimed at helping youngsters explore their creativity through movement and dance, while netball gives those involved an opportunity to learn new skills and make friends.

The new clubs are in addition to those already run by Active Trowbridge, with football frenzy, ability counts and extreme Trowbridge already taking place at John of Gaunt during term time.

Hayley Bell, Active Trowbridge leisure activities manager, said: “We were asked by parents to put on some community clubs that are affordable and something in the early evening.

“These clubs also give working parents an opportunity to join their children as well. The dance club is open to any children, no matter what experience they have, while the netball club is aimed at getting girls to take part in team sport.”

The dance club will take place on Tuesdays from 5pm-6pm at John of Gaunt School during term time, while the netball club will also run from 5pm-6pm on Wednesdays.

The cost for both clubs is £2 per week. Anyone interested in finding out more about the new clubs can visit the Active Trowbridge website at www.trowbridge.gov.uk/active+trowbridge
