THE South West Wiltshire Labour Party is inviting local people inspired by the recent leadership election to an event taking place at Trowbridge Town Hall next Thursday (October 8).

Following the victory of Jeremy Corbyn, the South West Wiltshire branch of the party is holding the free informal gathering for anyone who wants to find out more about Labour and its policies.

It will be completely free and is open to both members and non-members, with people of all ages and all backgrounds invited to come along between 7pm-8.30pm.

Trowbridge resident Laura Pictor, who is a member of the South West Wiltshire Labour Party, said: “Watching Jeremy Corbyn win the Labour Leadership - on a huge mandate of 59% - has made me feel positive again.

“Positive about politics, positive about democracy, but most importantly positive about Britain’s future. Labour voters, supporters and affiliates alike voted for a new kind of politics.

“As a member of the South West Wiltshire Constituency Labour Party (CLP) I’m proud that we backed Corbyn, along with 151 other CLPs up and down the country.”

She added: “I know others will be feeling inspired too, so if you live in this area, this constituency, whether you’re a member or not, please come along to an event we’re hosting as the local Labour party.

“It’ll be informal, free, with no obligation to sign up to anything; we just want to meet like-minded people.

“If you’re worried about the government’s severe austerity measures, their inhuman attitude to the refugee crisis, the dismantling of our NHS & Welfare State or Wiltshire Council’s application for fracking in our beautiful county, then please come along.”

Free coffee and cake will be provided and for more information, visit www.swwiltslabour.org.uk or follow the SW Wiltshire Constituency Labour Party on Facebook.
