POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a 20-year-old man suffered facial injuries during an assault in Trowbridge in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The victim was walking up Roundstone Street near the junction with Polebarn Road at around 12.10am when he saw a group of five or six people aged between 18-25.
He carried on along the road but heard running footsteps behind him and he was then pushed into a brick wall, injuring his cheek.
The group carried on walking up Roundstone Street, towards the roundabout with the A361 and a female passer-by came to the victim's assistance.
He was taken to the Royal United Hospital in Bath by ambulance and received treatment, including steri-strips and glue, for a cut to his cheek.
Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Simon Ratcliff at Trowbridge Police Station on 101 or alternatively they can phone Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
