WILTSHIRE Army Cadet Force’s finest young cadets were honoured for their achievements at the Wardrobe Museum, Salisbury, on January 14.

The presentation evening included Wiltshire's Lord Lieutenant, Mrs Sarah Troughton and Honorary Colonel of the Wiltshire Army Cadet Force, Lieutenant General Sir Roderick Cordy-Simpson.

The five outstanding cadets who received these prestigious awards include Trowbridge teenager Karl Martin, 18, who has been with the cadets for six years.

Along with Cadet Martin, Salisbury's Old Sarum Detachment squad members Cadet Company Sergeant Major Kiera Reavill, Cadet Company Sergeant Major Camren Stewart, Cadet Colour Sergeant Blake Collingwood and Cadet Colour Sergeant Hugh Tomlinson received awards.

All five were awarded a certificate and badge for obtaining the highest accolade of a cadet's career, Master Cadet.

On top of these achievements, in the academic side of the cadet force, there were two promotions also made to Colour Sergeant Blake Collingwood, promoted to Sergeant Major and also to Colour Sergeant Hugh Tomlinson also to Sergeant Major.

"It's a fantastic achievement, there are usually only 100 Master Cadets country wide, and we have five. We normally only achieve one every so often. This is just excellent for the county of Wiltshire Army Cadets,” said Commanding officer Colonel Mark Nash.

“Congratulations to both on their promotions and also congratulations and well done to all five on their amazing achievement to reach their Master Cadet status.

“Hard work from all parties involved from the Adult Instructors from across all companies, the cadets and parents involved, has produced great results for Wiltshire once again.”
